Why do we love pets? A furry little thing, jumping into our laps at the end of the day. Whether it be a dog (perhaps too large to jump into your lap) or a cat, or perhaps a bird in the cage by the window, a pet makes everything better.
Cats. Four legs, a tail, a wet nose. Those wide, curious eyes.
Sometimes, my day is immediately bright when I am awakened by a lump, laying on my chest, purring in my ear, rubbing a wet nose and whiskers over my cheek. Yes, Thaddeus, my adorably lovable cat.
I have another cat, Elliot, whom I adopted after seeing a boy holding him outside of Publix. You see, Elliot is still very much a kitten. A hyper, rambunctious kitten, who likes to bite and claw.
Even though I am often covered in scratches, I still love my cats. Why? I have no idea.
Dogs. I also have a dog- a beagle/black lab mix that I adopted from the pound when she was just four weeks old. She goes by the name of Lady.
Gerbils. I have two gerbils, as well. Lola and Laci.
One of me and my dad's hobbies is our fish tank. It's a simple ten gallon tank, sitting by the front door, with a freshwater set-up.
These aren't all of my pets; the family has three birds, as well as another cat (an indoor/outdoor stray named Fritz).
Still, I can't help but wonder. Why is their such joy hearing your cat purr? Feeling your dog curled up by your feet? Seeing your gerbils chew up a toilet paper tube, or your fish swimming about? Your birds enjoying the sun by the back window?
